Care
Care
Every Mon Together arrangement is designed in our New Jersey studio the same day it is delivered. With a little care, most arrangements stay fresh for 5–7 days, and orchids for many weeks.
Fresh-cut arrangements in a vase
- Top up the water every day. Flowers drink fast in the first 48 hours. Keep the vase at least two-thirds full with cool, clean water.
- Change the water every 2–3 days. Rinse the vase, refill it, and stir in the flower food if one was included.
- Re-cut the stems. When you change the water, trim about 1 inch from each stem at an angle with clean, sharp scissors.
- Remove anything below the waterline. Leaves sitting in water cloud it quickly and shorten the life of the whole arrangement.
- Keep it cool. Away from direct sun, radiators, heating vents and the fruit bowl (ripening fruit makes flowers fade faster).
- Edit as you go. Pull out any stem that fades early so the rest stay fresh longer.
Hand-tied bouquets and gift boxes
- Get your flowers into water as soon as possible after delivery.
- Remove the wrapping and the tie, trim 1–2 inches from each stem at an angle, and place them in a clean vase with cool water.
- Then follow the vase care steps above.
Roses
- If a rose head starts to droop, re-cut the stem and let it rest in deep, cool water for an hour.
- Gently remove the outer “guard petals” if they look bruised. They protect the bloom during delivery and are meant to come off.
Orchids
- Light: bright, indirect light. A spot near an east-facing window is ideal; avoid harsh afternoon sun.
- Water: about once a week, when the potting moss feels dry. Water at the base and let any extra drain away. Never let the roots sit in water.
- Temperature: 65–80°F, away from drafts and heaters.
- After blooming: trim the stem above a node and keep caring for the plant. With patience, it will bloom again.
